MOTIVATION FOR MEETING & SPONSORSHIP
DEAR POTENTIAL PARTNER / SPONSOR,
The meeting in Ghana has come at the time when the African Continent is faced with the challenge of attaining the Millennium Development Goals, yet with limited capacity to do so for most of the Goals. In recognition of this, the scientific community in Africa found it inevitable to contribute its share of the MDG by coming together to share lessons whilst building capacity that can positively impact MDG 7 – thus ensuring environmental sustainability and hence reducing poverty [MDG 1]. This involves indicators to (a) integrate the principles of sustainable development into country policies and programmes; reverse loss of environmental resources & (b) reduce biodiversity loss, achieving, by 2010, a significant reduction in the rate of loss. Your contributions will therefore be towards the attainment of the MDG. Events planned for the meeting include among others, public lectures, workshops, policy forums and round table discussions, media / press briefings, scientific talks, and field trips. With the commitment that comes with the meeting and also being the first on the continent to specifically deal with African issues only, we are excited to invite development partners, diplomatic missions, corporate bodies, IGOs and NGOs to be part of this meeting by attendance and sponsorship.
FUNDING CATEGORIES & REQUIREMENTS FOR UP TO 200 PARTICIPANTS FROM ACROSS AFRICA
