Policy issues have become central to conservation in Africa in recent times, whilst
pursuing the attainment of the Millennium Development Goal 7 on environmental
sustainability to reverse the loss of environmental resources & reduce biodiversity
loss. However, these challenges come with the appropriate capacity to handle them
yet inadequate on the African continent. They have become ineviatble because
conservation in practice can offer opportunities for livelihoods especilly poor
people. But the gap between scientists and policymakers has undermined this
potential of promoting economic growth and development. These and other issues led
to this Regional Conservation Science - Policy conference to be held in Ghana from
January 26-28, 2009. More information available, click on the link below to download brochure.
